Red Faction Advanced Server Utility 1.3

If you are a server owner wanting to run RFASU on your server follow the instructions below.


Installation:

You do not need to install RFASU to use it. Just place the RFASU-1.3.exe file in a convienent location and run it along side your Red Faction server.

Be sure to start your Red Faction server first, then start RFASU, configure RFASU how you want it and then click the CONNECT button. RFASU will then connect to your server and perform/allow the options you set up.

RFASU Options:

Settings within the main window:

Server Messaging
Check the "Enable Auto Message" box and enter the message or messages that you want to be broadcasted over the server chat dialoge. Also set the "Msg Timer (Seconds)" box to the amount of time you wish to use. Make sure you set it according to seconds. 60 seconds = 1 minute.

Max Players
Enter the number of players allowed on the server. This should be the same number as the dedicated server is set to handle.

Kick/Ban Buttons
If there are players on the server causing trouble you select the name in the box above and use the Kick and Ban buttons to remove the selected players from the server rather than typing out the names or IP addresses in the server console window.

Connect Button
Press the Connect button to connect RFASU to the Red Faction dedicated server to perform its functions.

Settings within the Settings menu:

Enforce Legal Names
If checked this will block all players using hexidecimal, asci characters, backtics, single quotes, and double quotes. When a player is blocked, he/she is actually banned and their IP address is added to your banlist.txt in your Red Faction directory.

Vote Kick Player
If checked it will allow players playing in the server to vote to kick a player. Majority vote rules otherwise it is ignored after a period of time. (voting commands can be found below)

Vote Ban Player
If checked it will allow players playing in the server to vote to ban a player. Majority vote rules otherwise it is ignored after a period of time. (voting commands can be found below)

Vote Level Change
If checked it will allow players playing in the server to vote to change to a level. Majority vote rules otherwise it is ignored after a period of time. (voting commands can be found below)

Chat Logging
If checked it will log all chat on the server into a text file on your Desktop or wherever you are running the RFASU from.

Network Settings
Local Port must be set to the same port that your dedicated server is set to run on.

RFASU Commands:

All the commands below are typed into the global chat while playing.

server test
Tests RFASU to see if it is responding

server votelevel levelname
Calls a vote to change to certain level (must be the actual level filename)

server votekick playername
Calls a vote to kick a certain player

server voteban playername
Calls a vote to ban a certain player

server cancel
Cancels the current vote if you started it

server y
Registers a YES vote if a vote is active

server n
Registers a NO vote if a vote is active
